Tube Burgers: The World of In Vitro Meat

Although I am not against test tube meat, I do think that the taste and texture can vary greatly from traditional meat.  If you buy meat locally now you have the ability to choose an animal based on its diet, for example, if the animal was grass fed, grain finished, etc.  The diets of these animals do impact the flavor and texture of the meat.  Another example is Kobe beef.  A Kobe cow is fed beer and sake so that it eats more and then massaged to keep the meat tender and fatty.  This gives it a very soft and rich texture.  In general beef cows are raised to produce a certain flavor, how that will translate to lab grown meat has yet to be seen.

I have to say videos of monkeys will always be entertaining.  They are like little furry people.  Now when you put a saddle on a herding dog and put a small cowboy monkey on top so that it can herd some sheep well then I just loose it.

There are thousands of lightsaber duel videos on the internet.  I think I just love this one because of the tractor driver refuses to give up.  His fortitude and determination make this video ten times funnier.

Video shows holographic prints that Zebra Imaging was able to make with some funding from DARPA.  They’ve gone on to create full on projections that would feature some level of animation as well.

Reporter Really Excited About the Soda Fountain of the Future

I can appreciate that it is a really cool piece of tech and will definitely draw some attention.  What I wonder is if people will really spend that much time inventing flavors or trying strange new ones.  Also now when I go into a Chipotle and get my soda there is usually someone at the other end of the fountain getting a different soda.  It looks as though this thing only has one spout, its going to be interesting to see how customers take to waiting for the person trying to invent some crazy new flavor.

When the Large Hadron Collider first came online, there was much disinformation and fear about the tremendous energy levels required to run the experiments. Most public concern was about the possibility of the LHC creating a black hole that would swallow the planet. Nobel laureate Frank Wilczek and LHC’s high-energy physicist Jennifer Klay explain why that’s not how it works.
